Family Trail Run and Picnic

Each year Yorktown Roadrunners hosts a Family Trail Run and Picnic at Mounds State Park.  This is not an organized race, but a fun event put together just for our club members and their families.  We enjoy a 2.5 mile trail run followed by a picnic and play/fun time. This is intended to be a family event... so bring the whole family (parents, siblings, grandparents...). Family members need not run to attend - walking is also an option, as is waiting by the picnic area. If the family is not able to come please make arrangements to have your YR runner come with someone else in the club so they don't miss out!

  • Date - Saturday, June 11, 2016
  • Time - 11:30 a.m.
  • Location - Mounds State Park (meet near the playground behind the "Locust Grove" shelter - directions below)
  • Cost - FREE (open only to members and their families) - but there is a $5 per vehicle entry fee from the state park.

Things to bring:
  • $5.00 per vehicle for the park's entry fee.
  • A picnic lunch and beverages for your entire family/group.
  • Lawn chairs and/or picnic blankets for your family/group (there are a few picnic tables, but may not be enough for everyone).

The park is about 10 miles from Yorktown.

To the park...
  • Head WEST out of Yorktown on IN-32
  • Cross over I-69 and continue WEST on IN-32 for approximately 1 more mile.
  • Turn LEFT onto S Co Rd 400 E (aka Water St) and proceed for 0.4 miles.
  • Turn RIGHT onto Union Township Pike (aka Old State Rd 67) and proceed for 1.7 miles.
  • Turn RIGHT onto E CR 100 S (aka Donnelly Rd) and proceed for 0.2 miles.
  • Turn RIGHT onto IN-232 (aka Mounds Rd) and proceed for 0.4 miles.
  • The entrance to the Park is on the LEFT.
To our meeting place...
  • After passing the main gate of the park (where you pay), turn RIGHT onto the park's main road and drive about 0.25 miles.
  • Turn RIGHT at the first turn-off, which leads to the closest parking location near our picnic area (the picnic tables near the playground behind the shelter).
