Award Criteria

Every club member has an opportunity to receive special awards during the program.  The primary goal of every club member should be to work towards and earn these awards.

Mileage Markers:

Members who maintain and present an Attendance and Mileage Log at group meetings will receive a chain and mileage tokens for every 5 miles that they complete (5, 10, 15, etc... through 100).  These awards mark runners' progress towards their Achievement Award goal and are given out each meeting as earned.

Achievement Award:

Members who maintain and submit an Attendance and Mileage Log before the announced deadline and complete the following requirements will earn this award at the end of the program for one of these levels:

  • Bronze Award 30+ miles
  • Silver Award 45+ miles
  • Gold Award 60+ miles
  • 100 Mile Club 100 miles

Guidelines:  The time period for the achievement awards begins with the first group workout and ends with the last group workout or event. All miles logged for both group workouts and individual (at home) workouts will count towards the achievement awards.  Distances should be determined as accurately as possible.  All workouts/miles must be recorded on the provided log and confirmed by a coach or parent.  Miles may only be logged if they are run specifically as an intentional running workout.  [For example, running performed in the process of playing another sport (i.e. soccer, baseball, basketball) will not count.]  All workouts should focus on running (not walking).  While it is acceptable to include the distance walked during a workout if the runner becomes fatigued, cramped, and so forth, an attempt should be made to run the entire workout whenever possible.  Running progress logs must be submitted by the announced deadline (due to the need to order awards).

Commitment Award:

Members who maintain and submit an Attendance and Mileage Log before the announced deadline and who attend and participate in at least 8 of the 16 scheduled group workouts and 1 of the “Challenge” events will earn this special award.

Members who are active participants in Yorktown Roadrunners for a minimum of three years and meet the designated criteria are eligible to be inducted into the Yorktown Roadrunners Hall of Fame.  Runners inducted into the Hall of Fame will receive a special, personalized award and a permanent photo and profile in the "virtual" Hall of Fame on the Yorktown Roadrunners website.  The Hall of Fame Criteria is as follows:
